So here's the story and boo hoo to me. I found some weights to fit my 170 on Craigslist and spoke with the dude. everything was all set up and he was supposed to call on Tuesday. Never happened.

We had it all set up and he was in Kansas when I talked to him so I was comfortable waiting and we would get together after Labor Day. I sent him an earnest money check to hold them. Low and behold wouldn't you know he sold them after I agreed to meet with him yesterday. Oddly he sold them to somebody that I know for $300 more. What a jerk! Money Talks I guess and people's word mean nothing these days.

Anyway long in the short I bought a bracket from someone on this forum but now I have no weights to put on it. Does anybody have six weights that I can put on the front of my 170? I know the preceding story isn't your problem but I'm really irritated right now so I felt I needed to write it down. Watch out, there's dishonest people everywhere!

Good raising shows, cream rises to the top. The seller will never represent either. The person you know, if he knew anyone had sent earnest money, never will either. JMHO

I just thought out of all the business dealings and everything I ever do that orange would rise to the top If You Will. But unfortunately, they're here too.
I stopped the check and the bank notified me that it was tried for deposit. Really?

Must be a different color guy and it shows.  Yours is not the first time this has happened.  I've had it done to me also and I know of some others it has happened to.  It's usually NOT an Allis guy and especially from someone on here.  They'd be hunted down.
I'm not a lawyer, but I've heard of guys taking these kind of people to court and suing for damages.  Could be something to look into....

I'd think about it Ted if the check wasn't for so little. It's just not really worth my time. I need to spend the time to actually find what I want and it's definitely not to deal with this guy

Just bought a kubota on CL.  Gave the man a check, on a wednesday, told him to take it right to the bank, checked on friday, and it had cleared, so I called him up and said is sunday OK to pick it up?  He said yep, do I picked it up on Sunday.  I made the deal, for $250 less than he wanted, but he was happy, I was happy, today he stopped by with some filters, oil, and other miscellany he found in his garage.  There are honest people out there, but every day, I see fake ads, generally easy to spot, cause of too cheap a price listed...

I've been buying and selling on CL for years. I have generally had very good luck and dealings with people. Usually the only problem I have is Cheapskates and no shows.

But seriously who the hell puts a posting on their local Craigslist when they're not even in the damn same state. I called him within an hour of the posting and he was already in Kansas. Or did you just not think that there was going to be a big calling on these weights? You see 7000 series weights all the time but these little guys pop up occasionally and they're usually gone the same day.

A few months ago there was a complete set north of me and I called within two hours of them being listed and he already had them sold. I offered to double the price but this was an honest person and held true to the person he sold them to first.

I'm over it now, it just really ground me. Some people just don't care and will step on their own Mother's throat to make a buck. I guess I will chalk it up to Karma. It's occasional revenge for all the rotten crap I did when I was younger...Ha!
