| Can someone tell me what the part is called that is above the plow shares, that helps roll over the sod when plowed? For the life of me I can't remember what they're called and it's driving me nuts!!! LOL! Any help is greatly appreciated! Rick |

Well, you guys have covered it. There's 3 parts of a plow bottom "above" the plow share, the shin, moldboard, and coverboard. Held on by 2 bolts he says....hmmm....I'd think that rules out moldboard. So the shin is the leading edge above the share, the coverboard the trailing edge off the back of the moldboard. Oh, then some of them have another thing above the moldboard and shin, what's that called?

LMAO! Okay...so the part ABOVE the moldboard itself is a coverboard, correct? It helps to roll the sod over when plowing...some more than others, I guess, since some of them have a larger bend in them...so-to-speak. Rick |

| Yes,it catches the top couple? inches(been a long time since I watched one work) coming up/off the moldboard and rolls it down.Can plow cornstalks with just a few poking out. |

Larry, for the most part I can't read the text... So if that top curved thing (not shown in Larry's photo) is the coverboard, then what's the thing that goes on the top trailing edge of the moldboard? (Also not shown in larry's photo)

I can think of one more possibility: "moldboard extensions" is what we called them when I was a kid. They bolt onto the trailing edge of the moldboard in the two bolt holes shown on Larry's moldboard picture. They help to make sure a ribbon of sod doesn't turn back over into the furrow when plowing certain types of heavy sod. Sometimes this would happen when plowing sod that hadn't ever been plowed before or hadn't been plowed in recent years. | Dad had an A C snap coupler plow and it would turn sod and set it back up.Solved problem.Put oliver bottoms on it and it realy plows nice.More than one changed in this area.Hard to beat an Oliver moldboard. |
