looking at a Gleaner M2, currently own a F2 long body but looking to have another machine. This one includes a 15 foot flex, tires cracked, bin has been patched,
It is a gear drive, look like more gears than my F2..    the m2 has Hi/ low?

electric switches instead of levers. What size is the bin? what size corn head would work good? Im guessing 6 row and the 15 foot flex is a good fit.  How much more capacity does it have over the F2?

Also, wrong forum but does anyone know the auger height on a Little massey 300 combine? I was looking at one but probably too small and too low of an auger to reach my wagon..

Thanks,
Nick

Most M2s have a 180 bushel bin. That's based on SAE rating which rates using wheat. Corn will be less. Early M2 had slightly smaller bin.

HP on M2 probably 130 vs around 100 on F. M2 has more cleaning capacity and in my opinion better separation capacity. By how much? I'd say very noticeable.

I had an early M2, 165 bu bin. Used 6 row corn head and sunflower, was very good, 18 foot straight head for wheat, no flex head. Most others around here ran 20 ft straight heads, have no comparison to an F2.

We have an L2 and an F2. The L2 will do twice the acres of the F2. It also seems less prone to plugging in beans.

wekracer, I would certainly hope the L2 has twice capacity as an F2

I'd pass on the Massey. If your dealers are like ours out here, you're going to have a much, much easier time to get Gleaner parts, and the machines themselves are much easier to service. Once you go grey, you never go back

We went from an "F" to an "M2".  Far more capacity.  Bin capacity in dry corn is about 150 due to the fact the dry corn likes to run like water right over the front of the bin & onto the top of the cab.  LOL!!!  You'll be able to hold more beans than corn.  The M2 really shines in corn.  You'll love the extra capacity.
