| What are the pluses and minuses to keeping the pin hitch or converting to a 3 point? Was looking at the cross mfg light 3 point... mainly planning on running a back blade (snow and gravel grading at new house) and maybe a small brush hog/disc for food plotting (Far future), any input appreciated! I have a pin hitch CA 2 bottom plow, I know for a back blade with the pin hitch I'll have to modify a sc blade... |

One thing for sure if you plan to go the 3pt route, buy anything heavy you can get your hands one: anvils, tree stumps, motherinlaws flathead V8blocks. You'll need plenty of weight out front as any of the 3pts will shift the weight of whatever implement you used much further behind the tractor than any of the AC designed implements, which many of the need extra weight out front as close coupled as they are. Also you'l find the 3pt plows will never really do a good job compare to a Pin-Hitch or Snap-Coupler plow. That including the fact the almost all of the 3pt conversions eliminate the Traction-Booster feature that allows a CA to do lots more work than most any other tractor in it's class. ------------- If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. I have a Woods snap-coupler 5' bush hog that a used on my narrow front CA and like PaulB says they are light on the front end and the side weights are not cheap. But all in all the 3pt would probably be more handy or.... get a trail type 6' bushhog and a pull type land leveler instead of a blade. Ditto on the 3 point (and light ftont end). If you get the 3 point hitch that mounts to the pin hitch frame, you should still retain the traction booster feature. Did not have much luck with the back blade as there is no down pressure, had much better luck with a box blade. You can fab up a weight box that can mount off the front implement bosses to weigh down the front. ------------- What this country needs is more unemployed politicians-and lawyers. PaulB, Leon B MO & GregLawlerMinn are all correct. It's better to stay with the Allis setup and equipment, but it's getting harder to find. 3 point equipment is everywhere but don't work as well. ------------- Thanks & God Bless Dennis |

| Sounds like I just need to find a snap coupler blade and convert it for my pin hitch...or buy a cheap 3 point blade and make it for my pin hitch! |

You could also convert it from pin to snap-coupler . 3 point will work if you add weight up front like side weights, inner and outer wheel weights. I made a set of bolt on weights that worked well. Bolted them on the front where the cultivator bracket mounts,. Used three of them at 50 pounds each.
