I would like to put 30" rears w/ steel centers on my 6080 to get the weight down a bit and get a little better mowing speeds. I was wondering if the studs are threaded far enough for steel wheels, I am having trouble getting the cast centers off the hub. If they are not, I might just put a set of un-loaded bias 34's on it so I don't have to take the centers off...

Not sure if i can answer ur question but.. i took off my 28's steel center from my 6070 and put 34 cast centers on it. I had to have longer studs. I have the shorter ones if u need them.

Eldon, I have an Allis 180 and it had 18.4X28 with steel wheel rims. I traded with a tractor parts wrecker my wheels for 16.9X34 cast wheels. I had to buy longer bolts grade 9. It made the 180 move a lot faster on the road. I liked the 34 wheels for collecting sap when making maple syrup, rolled over rough ground better.

The 16.9X34 cast rims were off of a 6080 that had new tires mounted and my 18.4 tires were in rough shape.

Will need some type of spacer if going to steel centers

Yes I finally got the centers loose and see they are only threaded part way. I had some 1/2" thick 8 on 8 rings that I put on first, so I am not on the pilot diameter. I then put the wheels on and then a spacer, then the washer and nut. I will see if they stay tight. Not a lot of heavy use planned, so they should be fine. I may have slowed the tractor down too much, tho. I think I probably dropped 2500 to 3000 lbs off the tractor tho! Those Conti Radials with fluid were heavy! Maybe the weight close to a 6060 now??
