Anyone know where or who to talk to as far as mounting a 5.9 cummins in my XT. I have the motor from our dodge that's beyond worth fixing with only 170000 miles on it and my xy needs rebuilt so I'd like to keep motor and thought I'd be a good place for it and possibly later move the 301 to our wd45 so any ideas would be very helpful, thanks

Don't know if available for you but BIL can get a kit to put 5.9 in his Oliver, includes couplers and motor mounts and other stuff, don't know the cost.

As far as the Oliver conversions go, Maibach Tractor in Creston, OH are the people to talk to. They make all the conversion kits. I don't know if they have any experience with Allis, but they might be able to provide some insight into what all will be necessary.

The rear end and trans was not good enough for the factory engine and you want to do what? Would make a neat toy. Figure out how to put fully independent pto in it as well and I will take one. Tom

I had a nice 200 awhile back and I was about to die for a Cummings swap in the thing and I did find some numbers of who to call. It's a common thing with 8000 series, the problem everyone talked about was where to put the hyd pump. I didn't see a problem with it I thought if you had a good enough shop you could mount one maybe mount a Deere front pump (just a thought) that's the only issue I had with doing it.

I ended up putting a m2 gleaner motor that only had about 200 hours on it. She was mean to lol. But that 5.9 would have been nice

They have been making Cummins kits for red tractors for some time and also advertise kits for 7000/8000 A-C, Ollies, etc.
Enter Allis Chalmers in search box at upper left, pulls up a couple of kits for A-C. Scroll to the bottom of page and they state they have kits currently in R&D for D17, D19, 180 and 185 in the works.
Found this while searching info for a 4BT kit for an early D17DIV with a tired engine that I picked up very reasonably a few years ago.
I have access to 4BT engines reasonably, may be something to do some day.

Anyone have any feedback on Leaman kits?

I used a Leman kit this winter to pit a 8.3 in my 8070. Adapter plate and flywheel fit as they should. Sounds like he has done a lot of conversions.

How much difference is there with the 8.3L in the 8070?

Ours is going to need engine work.  Haven't been impressed with the power of the stock motor.  Don't really need a lot more, but our old 7060 seams to pull just as well without FWA.

What do you figure it cost you to put in the 8.3?  How much did you do yourself?

I found a doner 8.3 and started over with a complete overhaul. Machine shop cost was the worst. If you have a good engine to transplant, its not to bad of a job. Inpumped set the pump to stock hp of a 7140, donor was out of a 7140, at 190. Plenty of motor. Cost depends on donor condition and how much you can or want to do. I learned a lot and could do another a lot quicker. PM me if you want more details.
