All,
I am getting my 6080 engine back together, and need to put the oil pan on.  I replaced the front cover gasket during this repair, and the gasket overhangs the engine block, into the space that will be occupied by the Oil pan and its gasket.  The picture below show the overhang.

My question is what do I do?  Should I cut it with a razor, so the oil pan gasket seats to the block?  Do I fold it over and let the oil pan gasket mash into it?  (This one seems illogical to me)

Thank you,
John

On the assembly line that gasket and the front plate gasket where both trimmed off flush to the oil pan rail with a "very sharp" gasket scrapper (Snap on #CSA12 USA) and a dab of black Permatex was applied to both gaskets and on both oil pan rails and then the pan was attached to the block.
