I'm doing a lot of brush hogging and have finally decided to get a PTO shield for my 180.  I'm talking about the shield that bolts to the tractor and covers the end of the PTO shaft and the front coupler.  Not comfortable with the idea of the shaft disconnecting from the mower and becoming a propeller.  The only bolts / bolt holes in the PTO area of my tractor hold the PTO seal cover in place.  Any help greatly appreciated.

the thing that bolts up there is not really a cover, just a bracket to attach one of the old style pto shields to. that's the first thing I yanked off my 180, it's a hand/wrist scraper. if you want a little protection, run a chain thru the 3 pt arm balls and have the 3 pt raised. if the shaft comes up, the chain will catch it.

I just took the shield off our 6060 because it was a hand/wrist scrapper and made it almost impossibel to hook up the new sliding couplers.   I appriciate the safety issue and may cut it down to about 3 inches deep and put it back on.

A shield like used on Kubota's would be ok. They flip up out of the way
