I just took the tires off of the rims. One rim is in real good condition. The other is rusted all the way around. It appears solid. How does one tell how thick the steel still is and if it would be useable? I'm not planning on loading the tires or adding weights. ------------- D14, D17, 5020, 612H, CASE 446 |

| Have had a number of them done over the years and remember the first one as it seemed there was not much to them for wall thickness. I clean em up best I can by removing excess rust with hammers, remove any sharp edges around the flange and work them back true with hammers. Had a few where they had pin holes after blasting and wire feed filled them nicely. Good primer on the inside and I always run new tubes when going back together. Have had new metal installed on a few, up to 2"+ around the valve stem area and you cannot tell where they were done. If the weld shop I use can do them for 1/2 the cost or less (including freight on new rim), I have him work his magic as the wheel stop holes on replacement rims tend to be half a hole off when moved to the innermost setting. |

It's a 28" PA rim. Will be going on a D-17. I guess I'll start hammering on it and see what happens. ------------- D14, D17, 5020, 612H, CASE 446 |
