2500 disc rebuilding?

This summers/falls project is going to be fixing up the disc. I am hoping to replace all the bearings and put all new blades on the front at least. Would like to do back blades too but would cost more than I can afford at this point. What bearings work good for this application/ any specific brands?

Would notched blades work good on the front with smooth on the front? I have rocks so they might all break on me.. 22 inch was standard right?

I prefer the smooth blades and we have rocks. I think they're stronger and cut better.

If the blades are not close in size it will ridge terribly. My father put new 24 inch blades on the 2600 centerfold he has and backs are 20 inches. Its not pretty after it works ground. As for bearings i go to Agco but hold on to your pocket book, last one bought was $40 or $50.

$40 or $50 is nothing compared to what my cousin spent on the bearings for his CaseIH disk. Forget the model number but he sent it down the road after replacing a few of those expensive bearings.

The last bearing I bought were generic on eBay for $13 give or take. I have wondered if you get what you pay for though. We go through a lot of bearings on our 2 2500 discs but they are big and we use them quite a bit
I have thought about buying some expensive ones and marking where I put them to see if they last longer. Whenever I change one I normally put the new bearing in the hardest to get at position and move the used ones out. On our discs there is one bearing on each gang that can be replaced without dropping the gang, so I use my used bearings there. I am a cheapskate though. Agri supply normally has the cheapest blades.

I will measure the back blades to see what size they are at. The back blades don't seem to be in the ground much anyways.. Is there a way to level the disc? But honestly the way it's set seems perfect, leaves a nice smooth finish.

The last bearings I bought for my 2500 were $36 from agco. My 2300 was a different story $92 a piece.

We rebuilt a 2500 with the rock flex spring and they take a kind of special bearing that I could only find through agco. We bought em and didn't carp about the price since we could get them.
