Here in CT first cut is just about in. Anyone have any vids cutting, raking, baling, etc with their AC?

| Wish I was. Just finished planting/replanting Monday and have 25 acres of wheat to cut first. And the boss called Saturday so I worked 25 hours ot over the weekend. Maybe next week. I have some pictures of my hay toys but it's hard to post. I'm willing to text or email anyone who wants to post for me. |

Baled some brome and wheat straw with my D-17 and J.I. Case 140W baler. Used my 180 pull a Vermeer wheel rake.

Cut the 7 arcs field after hearing weatherman says sunny for the next 4 days , that night the same station different Weatherguy said schatered showers , so you can guess where the schatered showers were. My hay was washed. |

I have the 82s mower on the series II D15 right now but I am just mowing field edges, lanes and under electric fence. Haying here is all finished and second cut is getting close. Tom |

We did one field of orchard grass 3 weeks ago, 1 field last week. We have been dry up until last Thursday. We have had enough in the past 3 days to make up for it. Need to spray and put fertilizer down but now its too wet. Not going to complain though, lots of areas are getting 2-5 inches at a shot and we have been lucky 8/10- an inch for us. Cut 20 acres of grass/alfalfa last Wed, baled it Sunday, would have done it on Sat but have a Farmers Market to attend. Picked up and stacked 800 bales in four hours this evening, still have one more load, 160 bales, or so, to go. Have another 18 of mostly alfalfa might cut after the potential rain on Friday. | I don't have any hay to cut. Alfalfa fields look like a summer fallow field. Grass hay fields have nothing. A few people are scratching together a few bales here and there, but not much. One neighbor cut his alfalfa yesterday, and figures that if he's lucky, he'll get about a half bale to the acre. If we get some rain over the next month, then the hay crops that I seeded should produce some hay, but the way it looks now, I ain't takin nuthin to the bank yet. Darrel |

Finally dried out enough to get the hay done last week. After mowing with my John Deere 2040, I thought I'd make the rest of this chore fun, so I raked with my 1928 20-35 and JD 594 rake. Here in the very North West corner of Ohio my first cutting is in. I baled about 70 bales cutting and raking it with my 5020 like Simplicity 9523. I baled it with the NH 277 pulled with the Oliver 77. My Grandson cut the rest with his big rig JD stuff at over the speed of the 9523's road gear. I raked and baled 80 some bales with the above dropping them on the ground. My Grandson and his boys came and picked it up using my wagon and backed in the warehouse for me. My Grand son baled over 200 acres of hay last week in big squares. The pulled in on my farm after 4 PM. they baled the 44 acres, loaded and was out of the bare field before dark. Moving the hay with semi flat bead trailers loaded with Cat four wheel loaders, three big bales at a time. I can't get my head around that type of operation while watching it. Baling at over ten MPH. Loaders running at that speed or more. Toss the tie down straps over the load and crank them all down while I would strap one tractor in the past. Boggles my mind! |

Still wet here, the ones that gambled and cut are finished but got it wet. Its a toss up for me ,i probbly would rather have weedy hay that has new growth blades and lost all of its first cutting quality than get it wet and have poor hay. I sprayed Grazon next on what I cut early and its ready to cut now and is very clean, the problem is the forcast ain't favorable and the Johnson grass is going to be heading out real soon. | My first cutting is done. I had planned to use the ACs some and get some pics, but I had to much trouble with rain. I didn't have times for pics. I got a lot of it wet and even lost five acers. I'll be back at it in a couple of weeks. I already got some square bales spoke for on the second cutting. I hope for better luck. I clipped my Johnson grass the other day trying to slow it down some. I've been told it makes pretty good hay that way. |
