We have a late 6080 that rolled off the line on 8/30/85, it has the KHD logo on the grill, I have heard rumors that the original AC logo is underneath it. Is there any truth to that?

That is what I am told as well. The AC logo is held with three screws. I don't know how the KHD is held on.

I also like the KHD logo. It really tells the age of the rebadged AC.

How are you sure of the date of manufacture?

The AC trademark is underneath the KHD trademark. It is epoxied over th top. This not only happened on late model units but also anything used that came into KHD dealers after the buyout as well as new units that sat on the lot for years after. My 82' 8010 had one

Here is one that came on a used replacement grille I bought a while ago.  You can see inside where they slopped some glue on the AC emblem.

The KHD logo on our 8010, was glued on, but it was very easy to pop off.  It was more like a adhesive tape.  I had no damage to the AC logo when I plucked it off.

Thanks for the info. I figured it was glued on also. I know the date it came off the line because it still has the original smv sign on it and they put the date off the line on the lowet right corner with some type of marker and you can actually still read it.

When we put a new grill on the 8070 we got a new AC emblem. One of the boys took the KHD emblem and popped the AC out of it, with a little cleaning it looked good as new.

Those few rebadged Allis Chalmers were the best tractors KHD ever sold.
