Getting ready to adjust the hand clutch on my 45.  Anyone got the procedure for it.  I know it has to do with shims, but do you add, remove, or reposition the existing shims.  Thanks

you haft to remove a few shims at a time an try it tell you get a good tite snap back in your clutch' should pull back an lock in push ahead with a good snap' remember make sure to take the same amount of shims out of each place.

Always check your clearance before you start. Put a feeler gauge down between the clutch pack with the clutch disengaged, find out what the clearance currently is. It needs to be between .035" and .065" I shoot for .045" remove enough shims equally  from the three stacks to  get your clearance. if you go to tight the clutch wont disengage correctly. While you have the cover off look aft and check the condition of the brass collar on the throw-out bearing fork. If the tractor is one that sat running constantly with the hand clutch disengaged that brass collar will be worn out and no amount of shimming will fix it.
