I am looking to ad a hydraulic pump on my WD45. I see some nice looking pumps on surpluscenter.com. I want to put in a priority valve for power steering and a spool valve for double acting hydraulics. My question is how big of a pump do I need (gpm?

Are you adding this so that it is live all the time? If you look at a Gleaner E there is a pump/reservoir all in one unit that is belt driven from the front crank pulley. The gleaner E has a 2 groove crank pulley just for this. It would hang out the side but would be live all the time.
Just and idea.

A pump from a 445 loader runs off the crank pulley and works real slick. The 455 loader has live power.

I'm thinking about mounting it on the front of the crank. They have some Eaton pumps on surpluscenter.com that look shallow enough. But I don't know how big of a pump I need?

A front pump to a 445 loader was around 10 GPM at 1700 RPM.

I sure wish M&W was still making pumps that went between govenor and dist. I have had a couple of them on Farmalls and they work good, compact as well. Might be a idea for some body to make up a kit to do this as this is a common request to put hyd on older tractors like WC's etc

Thanks for the reply the pump I am looking at is about 11 or 12 gpm for $245.00. I don't think I'll do better than that.
