I just bought a 1985 6080 4wd, serial number 7658. The power steering valve whined before we put the new loader on it, and it steered okay, once we put the new loader on it the steering will only turn a little before you start moving, once the tractor is moving it steers fine but you can hear the steering valve whine during steering. It has had a filter change, plenty of new clean oil and the rest of the hydraulics are working fine. Any ideas?

Im not the doc but Id say to check pump pressure and then look into that steering valve sounds like its making enough noise to see whats going on with it. My 6060 will make some noise but nothing that makes me worry but it moves with one finger. The extra weight of loader is making something in steering valve make your problem ??? hope this will help .

It is the relief valve squalling which is kinda normal on these tractors with loader. Might check relief pressure to make sure it is hi enough.    MACK

Worked on the tractor yesterday, call my local agco dealer to just order new spring, and shims. The spring can no longer be gotten the smaller shims can, I took a washer and ground it to fit put it back together works great.

Might want to check pressure. Too much pressure and the side could come out of pump and that is not pretty.    MACK

I have something going on to. Lets see if I can explain it. I kinda say it drifts to left, but it's not really that its drifting its that the steering wheel takes I bit more of a rotation to correct it. But it's fine the other direction. I guess it also has a whine but its not all the time. It's 2wd no loader. Now IV noticed its damp behind the kick panel, not dripping but something must be leaking a little bit. Can't tell what
