I go down through neighbors and one of the drivers waves me over an says hay go check out what's on my trailer. Go look and there's two hug allis Chalmers transformers on a lowbed. One still had a stainless AC sign on it, well it did have it, now it's here with me. Going to go get the speck tags over the weekend, there riveted on. And going to try to get the gauges with AC in them off to. And try to get a few pictures. The cooling fins all have little AC in them to. It's pretty neat. Sad to see this stuff taken out of use, because a bet whatever they replaced them with wont last this long.

There use to be a couple Allis sub stations near me,one in preston iowa and the other in Maquoketa directly across from the allis implement dealer. Both had the old starburst badging. They were removed sometime in the late 90's. The local ADM plant is or was loaded with allis electrical components. Still a giant transformer sitting out in a yard there but someone took the AC plates off last summer. There's also still a smaller allis transformer on a pole just outside of Charlotte iowa. Im hoping to be able to get it when it gets replaced.
