Just purchased a sweet 2035

really nice but I dont think that it is the correct Mag

I have an American BOSH mag on the tractor

where would I find a correct Mag?

The correct mag for the '28 model is an Eisemann GS4. It is counter clockwise rotation and has mechanical advance and retard control.

Norm Meinert in Davis, Ill. may be able to help you find a mag. 815 865-5372.

Or, Mark's Magneto in Colchester CT. 860 537-0376

I would do a little research on that first cause' AB Mags were found on a lot of Tractors including AC's. AC always had backup vendors to supply certain parts during production runs. The Wico Mag backed up the common Fairbanks/Morse Mags on other model AC Tractors and came right from the production line like that. I'd look into it a little deeper first... HTH

I had two 2035's 15 years ago and the one most complete had an eisemann mag,

I will research this and let you know

Eismann's are tough getting parts for em'. I'd stick with the A/B.

Could be a serial # break on the 28's. Parts manual for 16436 and up shows GV4. I have 2 in this range and both came with a GV4. You can order parts manual for earlier # at www.ssbtractor.com.

I would stick with the Bosch.The correct mag is Eisemann GS4 but there not that good. I rebuilt a few Eiseman's and it always seams to take 2 mags and some spare part to get them going. The housings like to crack where the impulse is fastened on. A Bosch has a much hotter spark.

I think that I will for the time being keep with the AB mag

I have never had a 2035 that runs, ( both tractors that I have had were not close to running) and the new one that I have just purchased was reported to run not more than 2-3 years ago.

It is free , cranks nicely, and I can here the mag click

My 1937WC mag does not have any mechanism to advance or retard the spark so I just crank the tractor and off she goes

my new 2035 with the American Bosch mag has a lever that I would assume will help me start the tractor by either advancing or retarding the spark

How do I use this lever , would someone please explain how to set this mag and how I would use this feature on this Mag

I am excited to get this old girl started, cant wait to hear the engine run

on some of the videos on utube, the engine sounds really good

everyone on this site is a great help

To retard the spark move the lever in the same direction as the rotation of the impulse coupling. Moving it opposite to the direction of rotation will advance it. Most AB mags (if working correctly) will shut off the spark if retarded all the way.

I assume that to start the tractor, you want to allow the cylinder to reach top dead center and then fire on the down stroke

can I say that this way there is less compression, and less chance of a backfire?

allowing the engine to start easier

when the engine is started you would want the spark to fire on top dead center and get more compression and then power?
