They go on the straw rack. All-Crops don't have straw walkers, even though many people refer to them as such. They have a single rack that merely moves back and forth. Those things in your photo are called fishbacks and they are what go on the rack to move the straw. When the rack moves backwards, they slide under the straw (each fishback is composed of those triangle shaped "teeth". The longest part of the tooth (hypotenuse) faces the left side of the machine, and because it is a low angle it is easy for it to slide under the straw on the back stroke. On the forward stroke, the other edge of the tooth (almost a 90 degree vertical angle) collides with the straw, and propels it forward some. Then the process repeats. I believe those you have fit a 90/100, due to each fishback having 8 "teeth". |

There's plenty left to learn! This time last year I knew a little about a 100 and nothing about a pull-type, but after bringing great-granddad's 60A back to life from its fencerow grave, I now know it like the back of my hand. Like was discussed in another thread, experience is key!

| Are those thick (3/4" maybe) and wooded or like thin sheer metal? If they are thin, I'm thinking they go on the both edges of the straw rack and hold the center together. The center pieces that I think Creston is talking about on a 60/66/72 are thick and wooden. I have a rack out of a 60 and looked at it over the weekend... I used to have a 90 and I THINK the straw rack on it was all metal but I can't remember for sure. |

| Yes, the ones on the 60's are thicker wooden pieces, and the teeth are not near as aggressive as these. I too believe the straw rack on the 90's are mostly (if not all) metal. |

I have a 72 waiting to be worked on. Part of the metal straw rack is missing on the left side, just inside the door. I can't explain it well, but the metal "ribs or louvers" that go from front to back are gone for about 10 ribs. These ribs are the width of the straw rack. The 72 came with a parts 66. I pulled the straw rack out of the 66 a couple years ago and it's sitting on the barn floor. The "ribs" are held in place by these saw tooth pieces that look just like the ones pictured. Then the saw tooth pieces are riveted or bolted to an external frame that holds the whole thing together. Like Creston said, the straw rack turns to wood as you get to the right side on a 60/66/72. I'd have to dig out the parts book to tell for sure. |

Here's 1000 words. Found an old picture. You can see where the rib slats or whatever they're called are missing. Don't look like they belong on an All crop. I have a couple of those things. Will look at my parts book. ------------- 35 combines and 15 forage harvesters. mostly allis combines and equipment.WTB 2 row cornhead for a 90 |
