I did a stupid thing this afternoon. I tightened the gage on the filter housing and cracked the housing. If I put some Teflon tape on it will that help or do I need to replace the houing.Call me stupid

Purchase a new housing. Better in the long run. Go to a junk yard. Or maybe one of the vendors on this web site may have one.

Should be easy to get a replacement one. If it is a used one use a large file to true up the mounting surface. I lay a big coarse file on the bench and move the part over it to keep it as even as possible.

They are made from pot metal doesn't take much to crack. They also like to leak so now is the time to fix it right.
