Getting ready for spring started the 47' "B". Started right up but when I went to shut down with key it would no shut off. Even when removing cable from battery. Tractor has been converted to 12 v with an alternator. Switch or selanoid problem? Any help?
Thanks

If it still has magneto ignition the switch is not grounding out the mag, either bad switch or broken wire. There should be a tab on the side of the mag to ground it also. The mag could also have a broken wire internally. If it has been converted to battery and coil ignition the alternator will supply voltage to keep it running if the switch is not breaking the connection.

Sounds like the three wire alternator is back feeding the ignition circuit. It takes a lamp, resistor, or diode in that circuit to get it to stop reliably.
