I'm gonna try and post what I had to do to replace the steering pinion. remove your loader if ya got one, you'll need the space.  I didn't take my loader off and it was always in the way!! spay your bolts down as you go with some good penetrating oil, get lots of rags ready being a contortionist would help!!

Drain the tank, then unhook the fuel gauge hose, injector line on top of tank and fuel line on the shut off.  be careful the hard plastic lines can snap if your not careful.


These 2 12mm studs shown below under the dash are a pin in the @#@.  the fuel cut off lever to shut off the tractor is bolted to one and the wire/cables are in the way on the left side.  Tiny hands and a 1/4 inch ratchet will help!!  you'll probly want to go to confession by the time you get these little gems out!!


then remove the 3 - 12mm bolts on the bottom of the tank and remove the tank.  I took the sediment bowl off of mine, so I didn't drop the tank and break it.


Remove the Cotter pin, washer and unhook the linkage.  draw a diagram or take a picture of the linkage so ya remember how it hooks up.


Remove the top retaining ring and drive the pin out of the steering shaft.  The steering wheel and shaft should then slide out as a unit.  You can then remove the bottom retaining pin and drive out the bottom pin.


Remove the 4 9/16 bolts from the bottom of the steering column. and slide the dash, steering column out of the way. be careful not to rip out or pinch any wires  I was able to then remove the ujoint.  take the 7 12 mm bolts out of the bottom of the ujoint cover.  2 on each side, 2 in the front and on in front of the shifter.

Remove the cover around the ujoint, my pinion came out with the cover since it was bad.  once the cover is off you can see the steering gear, the pinion should be in front of the steering gear and have a bearing in the top, followed by a snap ring and a bearing in the bottom.  when you remove the steering gear the pinion and bearing should come with it.


Check your bearings for wear or replace them since your there.  installation is just reverse.  make sure ya clean the surfaces, put a new gasket down, repack your bearings, grease everything, etc.  The nut on the steering gear is not very tight, I just used a hammer and a screwdriver to tap it loose enough to turn by hand. Good luck and Hopefully ya never have to do this!!!!!!

I didn't take any photo's while I was putting it back together.  I was ready to get this project done and was farely tired and po'd.
