Hey- anybody have pictures of a belly mount grader blade mounted under a D-17? I need something that'll flatten and grade better, and figuring I'll be fabricating it, but could use some examples...

Hi.   In Aug. , 2008, at the A C show in Portland In., there was an open stationed 190 XP on display with an underslung grader blade assembly. Boy-o-boy, was it nice. Unfortunately, I can not find my pictures from that show. Perhaps someone else may have a picture of it. The gentleman who displayed it said that it belonged to his son and that he used it in the landscaping business. I think they were located to the north of Portland ( towards Ft. Wayne ).   Ross D.

I'm curious why a snap coupler blade won't work?  One in good working order can be adjusted to about any angle you could want. They are heavy enough to dig deep, and with good hydraulics you can put it at any height to level off.  Just going thru my mind what all you could need to grade.

I'm looking for one in the belly, because the blade I have behind (or any blade behind) will dig IN when the front wheels climb up over a lump, and when falling down the other side, drop dirt on level ground.

I want to knock the high spots down as they pass between the front and rear axles.

I also want to be able to lean and swing the blade to use it for grading, like a speed maintainer.

Hi Dave.   I like grading with the snap coupled grader blade; but, understand your comments on the frustration that you encounter. Here is a picture of a possible solution. If you could find a nice 'D' grader, I am sure you would enjoy experience. They do a good job and are a lot of fun to operate. This picture is of my 'D Special', with Calvin Schmidt grading Justin Biebers laneway in Stratford, Ontario.   Ross D.

That grader looks like it'd be a lot of fun to operate - I could use it on my lane! I can just hear my wife's response, though: "You bought WHAT??!!??"

I have an early D grader that I'm trying to sell. The engine is tight, needs tires.. It may be easier to put a blade on your 17. :).

Wow, Fleet- that's a cool setup... yes, simple, and perhaps a little on the lightweight side, but for a Cub, that's to be expected.

Some variety of that was kinda what I had in mind. The hydraulic version above looked right, but the pictures were a bit small for details.

A Grader... yeah, aside from the long wheelbase maneuverability, it'd be nice. I'm the kind of guy that'd have one just because I could, but it wouldn't be the optimal worker for what I'll be working down... but hey... more pictures!!!

Charlie- for some silly reason, I can't get your video link to do anything but turn blank... can you re-post it as text?

Ted!---You could use this as an idea to work from!---Just scale it up to whatever weight your tractor needs!---the idea can be adapted to any color or size tractor.
Nother' idea I have is to start with this STYLE setup,---THEN add a long cylinder on each side for seperate control of the blade---- angle could also be a cylinder on a third valve! ----I got all kinds of ideas!!! LOL!!!!
If the cub had aux. hyd. ( which they don't) I would put each side on a valve/cylinder to control the blade!---for its size it does great job the way it is, just gotta take light cuts!  thanks; ac fleet
