Well, that's my one and only AC. Is there anything specific you'd like to know? Mine is a power director transmission, which is bullet proof they say and a strong puller. Can be tricky to shift (no synchros at all) I've never driven a power shift. I've had to replace the stuff old tractors sometimes need: alternator, radiator, water pump..... Look at tire condition, blow by, hydraulic function, belts, battery cables, drawbar and lift arms..... |

Look at tires and overall condition. I have learned beaters are not a bargain at any price. Maybe a power director is a necessary evil in the 7080/7580 but would ignore it like the plague in a 7060 and smaller. I have had 2 PD'd and still have 2 power shifts. Neighbor had a 7045 in the early 80's he bought it as a factory demostrator he said in the 50 years he farmed he never seen a tractor like it. ------------- 8030 and 8050MFWD, 7580, 3 6080's, 160, 7060, 175, heirloom D17, Deere 8760 |

| When I was shopping for mine, it seems some wise soul told me that was the smallest tractor that had 4 planetaries in the final. Makes for a robust combination. Maybe someone on here can confirm or debunk that. |

How's things going over there Mr. Victory? I'm surprised you didn't end up over here with the wind yesterday! Sounds like you aren't a fan of my PD? Hahaha....It definitely isn't the smoothest thing in the world, but when you get it going, it goes well! When I say I haven't operated a powershift, I haven't operated an AC powershift. It's a nice way to go. Maybe if I can make some money again one of these years, I'll have one. |

I have a 7045 with Power Director and get along great with it. If i looking at one I would want it to have the coolant filter (small spin on filter left side of engine) and make sure it has been changed this century. One of AC's best tractors in my opinion ------------- Orange & Silver still earnin their keep on the farm: R62, Series IV D17 nf, 185, 6080, 6080 fwa, 220, 1968 D21, 7045, DT240. |

Tbone If it wasn't for my wife's cooking giving me a little extra "ballast" I probably would have. I'm just thankful we didn't have a bunch of fluffy snow on the ground. I survive with the power director in the 7580 but it's not as handy as a power shift. I like both the PD and PS, personally. All depends on what you're doing. The PD is bullet proof and has 20 speeds, but the PS is also very rugged and handy because you don't have to clutch, but you only have 12 speeds. Not sure which I'd choose if I had the choice on an Allis. Probably PS. I've been around the new green tractors that have PS, and I hate them, but all the older units of the 80's (Green and orange) are great. I was convinced I would never like the PS tractors because of my experience with the newer Power-Jerk Deere's, but I drove a Deere 4050 once, and I was hooked. Still don't like the new ones though, although the new transmissions in the Fendt and Challenger tractors are like driving a car, as far as smoothness of acceleration. I drove a Fendt once, and it made a believer out of me. All that said, a buddy of mine has two 7050s and a 7045, and he really likes both of them. I rode in one of the 7050s once, and it's very quiet if you still have all the insulation. I can't recommend them enough. If only FWD was an option, then you'd have a perfect tractor.

| If A-C had a hall of fame of tractors, the 7045 would be there. We,ve had ours since the early eighties. Still use it. Would not sell it. Sometimes wish we had a second one. Toss the seat and replace with an air ride... |

| Never personally ran one but know a guy who's all Deere except for the 7045 with a powershift he bought sometime in the mid to late 90's. Says it the best tractor he's ever owned. |

I wish AC would have put the throttle down in the console instead of in the dash. I wish the dash would have been made of stamp steel instead of plastic. Ours is a PS. It pulls the sprayer and pushes a Westendorf TA46B to clear the snow that Shameless gives away like candy at a parade. I love the old tractor. If I could put a set together, it would be a 7010, 7020, 7040, 7045, and 2-7060's (red and black belly). | I'm just the opposite of Victoryallis...You couldn't give me a jerky powershift...Had one and had nothing but problems with it..PD never has gave us one oz of trouble...We had a 7045 PD and I liked it...I do not like the T handle ahifter...Linkage wears out and it can become a real pain to get in gear...If I remember correctly it was not inner cooled and that's the only issue I had with it |

| Personally, when it comes to PDs, I prefer the floor shifter of a red belly. The T-shifter seems nice, but like you say, the linkages wear over 40 years, and they don't shift well. The floor shifter never gives trouble, that I know of. |

Well....the first Allis we looked at when shopping for my 7045 was a 7060 red belly (I think it was a 7060....) anyway, both shift levers were welded back together down by the floor. I don't know the history of the tractor obviously, too weak of levers? Crappy tractor operator? Trouble shifting/forcing it? |

Our mechanic used to take AC's with the floor shifter and heat the shifter and bend them differently. Also the 7000's used to get a change made to the foot pedals. He would weld the pedals back on at a different angle with a piece of steel stock behind them for support. I was too young to remember why.
