I am going to re spray my WC but don't want to go the extra mile by removing the engine and gear box.
I read somewhere that a good method is to remove all the tin work and one support beam (cannel) at a time grit blast and paint the beam and the hidden areas then replace the beam and repeat the process on the other side !!
Has anyone ever used this method and if so before removing the channel where and how did you support the engine, I am guessing the wheels are left on during the operation.
If anyone has previous experience in doing this or better still has photographs I would be most grateful for any advice.

I am in the process of painting my 37 WC
I blocked up the front, removed the front wheel unit, left the angle iron to support the engine , blocked up the engine and the rear and then removed both channel irons
It is setting there nice as can be ready to steam clean and then paint

I was not to sure of taking off both sides , but with a good stout 6x6 block system it is very stable

Will paint it with nice weather
