This was from 2 years ago in the late fall in one of our gardens.

Thanks for sharing. Who made the subsoiler? With the vintage, it would seem that it would have been pulled by something with tracks.

3 foot deep should break up any hard pan you have, hate to snag a bolder that deep.

Neighbor had one similar that also had the mole attached with a chain link. He pulled it with a weighted up 720 JD and offered it to us one spring, made a 75hp tractor grunt (weighted up to just over 10K) in right soils and we ran full depth running down grades in an attempt to pick up better drainage after years of compaction. Father said he would run drainage tile and we started doing just that the following year.

The sub is a jd, not sure of the model #---it had a mole attachment at one time,---but it was stolen many years ago from the other place and we never ran across a replacement for it.
As for hitting a big bolder,--I did at the other place when I was running hammer down with the ol'e oliver super 99 gm , and it is quite a jolt! lol!-- got the bolder on top of ground and upset the sub!---didn't bend or break anything.
Over the years we have pulled this with the oliver 99, jd 730-d, ac- wc, and the cletrac bdh crawler.----the only ac we had back then was the wc, (a 34 or 35 model) and it would pull a foot or so but struggled to do so. (I still have that ol'e tractor here in the weeds! thanks; ac fleet
