I was looking in the manual for the final drive lube for my WD and it says SAE 140 above 32 degrees and SAE 90 below.  Looking online I get a lot of hits for 85W140.  Is this acceptable to cover the temp swings here in southern New England?  Any suggestions are appreciated.

Just as engine oil has improved greatly, so has diff lube. In fact, lower viscosity lube will rob less power.

Just going thru that now - you can see post below. I will refill with 80-90.

In fact, when the B's came through in the 40's they came through with 140 in the transmission and final drive.  It was a pain getting it out when we put PTO and Hydrallic on.  Had to use Kerosene to clean out the old oil or else it would give the hydrallic a problem.
I believe all units sold in the 40's had 140 lub in the final drives.
Good Luck!

Same, some call it one and another call it different. IH call it HI-tran, Ago call it 821, JD call it 303 or maybe some thing else today.    MACK
