Does anyone use an 8000 series to pull an ejection scraper? Looking at a few different 8070 MFWD in my area and wanting to pull a dolly type 10 yard scraper with one. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

I use a Steiger PTA310 to pull a 10yd Allis Chalmers 108 and it is a good match. Remember if you heap it, it will be closer to 13yards and you sure can feel that weight behind you.

I pulled a 7 yard Soil Mover scraper with a JD 4250 PS 2wd. Didn't have enough traction until I hooked up the A-C 3 pt traction booster hitch. Made a world of difference.

Power shift will be a big asset.

I would say it would depend on what your intentions are with it. For around the farm use or small jobs I think it would work great. If your wanting it for large production I would look for a larger 4wd tractor.

Looking to use it for water ways. I own a small excavating company we have always had small single engine scrapers but they are expensive to buy and maintain. Plus the bonus of an ag tractor is a cab with less noise, less dust and air conditioning. We are looking at an Ashland 10 yard dolly type scraper. When I talked to the sales rep he told me that we needed to have at least a 140 hp tractor. Our soil conditions range from grey clay to sand and gravel depending on where we are working.

If you are having trouble with single engine scrapers you may encounter the same thing with the 8070. Scraping up hard soil in the summer will challenge the integrity of any drivetrain. Loosen the soil first or use another piece (dozer) to push from behind to help load it. It would look good doing it. Neighbor has one on a big Case IH MFWD but it says it is 300 hp.

We run a 13 yard torque behind a 8420 deere and it gets to be a load at times. The 8420 is 225 pto hp and fully weighted. Have used it behind my 8070 and could load it half full, but it has no weights on it and poor tires. It takes weight and traction to fill one. A 10 yard would be about right, Ashland is a nice heavy built scraper.

The worst job a tractor can be asked to do day after day is pull a scraper. Good luck.

I agree with the Dr. Tractors were designed for steady even loads. The 8070 drive train won't stand up to the dead pull of a scraper day after day. Guys around here are starting to give up on the tractor scraper combo and going back to conventional wheel scrapers.

We scrape a lot of dirt. Running a dolly will definitely prolong the life of your tractor. We had a CaseIH 7230 on a Reynolds 16yd lse and went 16000 hrs before it ever had any trouble. Lost a clutch pack at 16000 hrs. Trained many rookies in that tractor. Guys without dollies loose rearends in about 1/4 the hours. We move everything from red clay to river sand
