You can buy LED replacement bulbs for the 1196 backup light bulbs but they may not give off enough light. I had some universal round headlights on my B and found some 12V, 100W aircraft landing light sealed beams for them. Talk about putting out some light but the FAA said I had to file a flight plan every time I used them.

Maybe go to NAPA store and ask if they have an LED replacement bulb to fit the socket?

Normal head lights on a car are about 55 watts... at 12 volts, that's about 5 amps each bulb.......... I would take the original bulb and look at Auto Zone or other and match up a LED bulb with the same base.. If your not worried about original case, they do sell aftermarket lights with LED bulbs inside that you could bolt on inplace. If your question is, is it OK to use the 12 v LED, yes, any bulb would be OK... Somewhere around 55 watts.
------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s.
