Subject: 1936 WC PTO Help

Im installing a PTO from a 1937 WC on my 1936 WC that was not previously equiped.  However I feel I might be missing some of the parts. I am using the fixed drawbar with spacer part number 216070. I have to fabricate the strap that holds the drawbar up to the support, when i hold the drawbar up to the support i can not fully contact the support becasue the spacer hits the drain plug on the rear end, is there suposed to be a gap between the drawbar and support?  Also when I bolted the hanger bearing up under the platform the PTO shaft rubs on the fulcrum plate for the hitch.  Looking in my part book it shows a PTO sheild, part number 21049 or 210492, was one of these used on an unstlyed WC? If anyone could shed some light on the subject or post some pictures of there WC PTO, I would really appricate it, thanks!

Here is the page out of the parts book showing the hitch I have.  While it says after 1944, it was previously mounted on a 1937 ( im suspecting a later replacement?)

I think there are two drawbar setups? One is a "C" shaped thing, and one like this, where the shaft actually goes through the drawbar. Here is what I did to make it work with what I had. If anyone knows what is supposed to be in there instead of the washers, let us know!

I have a NOS PTO shield for a WC/WF/RC available if you're needing one.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

Do you know what year tractor it came off, or what years used that sheild?

I have a 37 restored and a 36? Parts. Both have the C shaped bracket and don't run through the drawbar.

My draw bar support hole was torched out when the PTO was added.

There was a drawbar attachment made for the WC tractor that had a C or U shaped adapter that fit around the PTO shaft and made the WC drawbar to meet ASAE specifications.  I do not have a picture of it but it had another drawbar that bolted to the original drawbar and made it ASAE suitable.
I do not have a picture and words are just not enough to completely describe it.
Is there a picture out there of this type of drawbar attachment?  If so can you post it so it will help JOSSUND see what is needed.
Thanks in advance
Good Luck!

Bill, this is the one my WC had on it, not sure if that's what you're describing or not -

Wouldn't the "C" shaped one actually give you a little room to swing the drawbar as well?

Good thought on the ASAE spec. I think one is drawbar height from the floor, PTO shaft height from the floor, and PTO shaft distance from the hole in the drawbar (forward).

I set my drawbar to 15" off the floor, PTO 22" off the floor, and PTO shaft 14" in front of the drawbar hole. Actually didn't get a chance to hook the brush hog up yet.

Here is the long winded topic on the 36 I did over the last year. The PTO stuff is on page 4. Maybe it will help.

Thanks for the help guys, my hitch (it’s hard to see in that small picture) is the ASAE spec hitch with the C shaped piece mounted to what Allis called the rigid drawbar in the parts book.  In the book it says effective in 1944 but given oldways tractors both have the same hitch perhaps it was available earlier? JoeM(GA) , that’s similar to my hitch except that is what Allis called the swinging drawbar, thanks for the pics! Does your hitch touch the drain plug in the rear end when it is straight back?  Also is your rear hanger bearing for the PTO  bolted directly to the platform?  Thanks!

Andrew, mine misses the plug, and there was nothing under my flange, it was bolted directly to the plate

Joe,  As ever, Exactly right.  That is precisely what I was looking for.  In fact when I visited OK Tractor display at Coming Home one had just been sold to a customer.
In the back you take the existing drawbar and attach it to the new drawbar that attaches to the C adapter.  The hook up is exactly like in the picture JOSSUND is showing.
Sorry, with the holiday season I have been running around and have not had time to research my library to see if I have better pictures.
Thanks to all who posted to assist.
Will be back later if I can find better documentation.
Good Luck!
