I know there's always talk on here on who owns the name. on a toy I bought for Christmas, on the back of box it says allis chalmers is a registered trademark of Archer Well Company Inc, used under license by TOMY international inc. that what you guys were talking about. Agco doesn't own that name. Who's the archer well company

Archer came into site by the merger of Allis Chalmers Energy and Seawell LTD, Seawell bought Allis for 893 million in around 2010 ish ??? ,, and called the new company Archer ;;;this is how it came to be Houston Dynamics was Allis,s last company and they were in the oil field repair business and were bought out by Oilquip in the late 90,s ; Oilquip mergered all their stuff with Houston Dynamics and then took the Allis name as some say for tax credits etc, then called the new company Allis Chalmers Energy, the new ACE company bought smaller businesses tied to the oil field business and grew it into a good company again, some say the CEO had ties with Seawell and when the getting was good offered a great deal to Seawell and the Board went along with it and sold Allis to Seawell to form Archer, sadly AGCO has nothing to do with Allis Chalmers name even tho Agco does stand for Allis Gleaner Company

I actually saw an Archer building with a big Allis-Chalmers sign out front a few years ago in south central OK.

So when did Briggs & Stratton give it up?? Remember they made those retro lawn mowers a few years back.

They never had it. B&S had to pay to use the name on their little mower idea too.
