I have over hauled a lot of engines over the years and still get that nice warm happy feeling inside every time I start one for the first time with all the right songs singing out the muffler, the timing is spot on (set it with a test light before start-up) with good oil pressure, no knocks, bangs or oil or water leaks. I'm on the down hill side of this WD45 dual fuel tractor, still have a list of little details to repair yet like the seat bushings. I went thru the engine, power steering unit, front end, hand clutch, engine clutch, transmission top cover, some of the wiring. It must be all right, I left a cup of coffee on the front end at start-up and found it still there after I shut her off. lol I have the best job in the world! Here's a shot of the WD45 dual fuel.  ------------- 3 WD45's with power steering,G,D15 fork lift,D19, W-Speed Patrol, "A" Gleaner with a 330 corn head,"66" combine,roto-baler, and lots of Snap Coupler implements to make them work for their keep. |

Yep, there is nothing more rewarding than going through a 50 -60 year old tractor and fixing all the leaks (and any other issues), making sure it is properly tuned up, has a good wiring harness and any neglected maintenance is done. It's the first thing I do whenever I get a new old AC. It's good piece of mind and should reduce any chances of breakdowns later down the road. You can tell how they are running through the seat of your pants, hands and ears. Looking good Don! You must be rubbing off a little of your expertes on me. I fired up the WD45 I've been talking with you on. Had the motor out putting new cam bearings in it. Put it back in, timed it by eye, put the fuel system back on & all new wiring. I don't think it made one full revolution on the first try & fired right up. I had to shut it down right away because I wasn't ready for it to do that. No muffler yet. LOL So you are spreading the joy of these old machines! Thanks. Ray W. |

Thanks for all the kind words guys, I have fun in the shop doing what I like to do. Now for the bad news, I am sorry but I don't make house calls. lol For all the new guys on here most of the tractors I work on are not mine, I have a little herd of WD45's one D15 fork lift and one D19 that I work on the farm. I send most of my time working on customer's tractors like the one above and don't see me running out of work.lol The WD45 LPG and gas tractors are what are called the "dual fuel" not the kerosene tractors, they didn't run on gas all the time just used gas for starting and warm-up and cool-down. LPG parts are not available from AGCO now so it's a call around to find parts for them. It's good to know that I might have helped some of you great guys on here. I will try to find time to do a video on the "how-too's" of timing an engine with a test light, I don't like to type that much. lol Or one of you guys that likes to do all that typing can just call me and I will tell you over the phone how to do it and you can try timing one that way and if you like it then you can post it here for all to see and tell them how it worked for you. lol FYI The door is always open to you guys, so come on by some time and we will talk tractors. ------------- 3 WD45's with power steering,G,D15 fork lift,D19, W-Speed Patrol, "A" Gleaner with a 330 corn head,"66" combine,roto-baler, and lots of Snap Coupler implements to make them work for their keep. |

I'll take you up on that offer Don and post in my rebuild post. Maybe one day I'll get back to finishing my 45 rebuild, now that harvest is done, and the truck is fixed after hitting that deer. Wait now there's that week at the inlaw's for Christmas. Oh and now that 15 degree weather makes it less fun to work with no heat, but I'm still young... |

Don - you left out the other great parts of your job: 1. Commute (about 100 feet) 2. Flexible hours (work whenever the heck you feel like it) 3. Home cooking for lunch 4. 100% executive control Mike P.S.
