| Does anyone remember an option of a Creeper Drive for an Allis B? Either I dreamed it years ago or read about one somewhere. The unit had a hydraulic motor that slipped onto the PTO shaft, the tractor was placed in a gear and the clutch was latched in the depressed position. The tractor could be an 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. or even Reverse. A variable flow valve controlled the hydraulic flow to the motor on the PTO. I don't recall how a pump was mounted to the engine or if a seperate engine drove the pump. Anyway, the tractor would go so slow you could set a plant, take a nap, then set another plant. This option could be disengaged simply by throwing the PTO out of gear and then drive the tractor as normal. Great option for the slow tractor race. Any ideas where I remember this from? |

um... if you depress the clutch on a B, don't the PTO stop spinning ???

| Yes it does. What you are doing is uncoupling the engine, but driving the transmission from the PTO. Give it a try. Latch the clutch in the depressed position with the locking lever, put the tractor and pto in gear and hand turn the pto. The tractor will move. |

| Yes, indeed, hydrostatic B. Only problem is you can't use the PTO for other attachments. Wonder if there is a market for something like that today? |

Kinda sorta off topic but I was at an auction years ago and there was a two wheeled trailer looking outfit that was made from a car rearend. It had a PTO shaft attached to the pinion through an old truck transmission and a tongue to attach it to a tractor and a hitch welded to the back of it and some chunks of iron hung on it here and there obviously to add weight. I must have had a dumbfounded look on my face because a guy walked up and said "cant figure it out?" I said nope. He said you leave the tractor in neutral and run the PTO to make the tractor go like H--- down the road, used for pulling wagons to town. Never seen or heard about another one. |

| I have a little six foot blade I use for pushing snow that is on going on my B. If you could get a cooler and tough enough hydraulic motor a hydro static type drive would be much nicer for the constant speed and direction changes of moving snow. It would also be nice for moving wagons around. |

| I remember seeing a set up advertised like that for a C farmall.Farmall had hyd pump on engine and hyd motor on pto .Was used to set plants .Would not work on AC B. |

| AHH. I just did a search on Farmall Creeper and found that is was an option on the C, Cub and 200. Maybe that is where I had seen it. |

some here did that , pump up front, for a loader.....long,long time ago...I remember cause I 'borrowed' the pictures..... and I finally clued into the setup.... B engine drives pump that powers the motor on the pTO shaft that 'backfeeds' the tranny and rear wheels....... sigh....getting old sux... This sounds like a cool idea!! If I get to try it one day, I'd get a B, mount a front pump driven from the crankshaft, just pull the shaft running from the torque tube, then mount the hyd motor on the PTO. To make it fun, remove the right fender and add a small side consol with a hydrostat control from a Gleaner! That would be a fun tractor! I'm trying to think if there's another way to mount the pump some other way so the engine could still run the PTO....

As you probably know with my father we sold the B for the life of the tractor - 37 - 57. We sold so many B's that we were a target for after market items for the B. I do not recall anything like you suggest. That said, lots of people did many things to the B - including us - to adapt them for "special Operations". The only thing I can suggest would be the Sherman over and under transmission. That could make the B slower. Let us know how it goes. Good Luck! Bill Long
