I know some of you guys run green combines and I remember seeing a green and yellow GPS antenna on a silver one someone posted a pic of so I thought I would ask here. We Just bought a Deere 9550 Maximizer that has the wiring harness for the Greenstar system in it but no monitor. What do I need to buy to get the bu/acre and moisture? Someone told me I needed a "brown box" display but apparently they are obsolete and no longer available from John Deere. I don't care about field mapping or downloading data just bu/acre and moisture. Neighbor has an Ag Leader PF 3000 display that that he pulled out of a 9500 combine that had an engine fire before it went to the scrapper that he said I can have. Anyone know if an AG Leader display can be made to work with the Deere wiring and sensors or would I have to buy all of the AG Leader sensors and wiring? |

We (not me, I just help) have a 9650, but I don't run it much. It had what you're calling the brown box. It worked good and did just what you want. I think now he's running a 2630 which does all the mapping, variable rate, and other goodies. I would try and find a used brown box somewhere because Deere would easily support it. I'm not sure if the Ag leader would plug right in. It's hard to beat free. |

| several around here have that bu/acre and other things they do. and a friend of mine was riding with his renter that had that, the operator was showing him everything it did. but when the time came to sell the grain, the monitor and the elevator receipts were no where close. that renter doesn't farm his ground anymore for that reason. (land owner was telling me this). so I don't know if they hafta be calabrated each time you change crops or if it's all pre-set? find out before you spend the time and money. |

| you do need a brown box on a 50 seris. there is plenty of them out there. Ag Express will rebuild them for a set fee. As far as the Agleader you will need their moisture sensor and wiring harness for sure. I'm not sure about the mass flow sensor. |

The Agleader we have in our R62 needs to be calibrated regularly. If you wanted you could get it to read whatever you want. It's a reference but far from gospel. ------------- 8030 and 8050MFWD, 7580, 3 6080's, 160, 7060, 175, heirloom D17, Deere 8760 |

Our get calibrated every year at the beginning of both corn and bean I think, but maybe it's just one crop. You have to combine and weigh a couple hoppers then put in a calibration factor. Usually find someone with a truck hopper with a scale on it. HA just realized that one of those for sale on tractor house is from my local dealer. |

| Calbrate each crop every year if you want closest accuracy. Use a weigh buggy. They are very good reference if calibrated but still a reference only. My experience was as an ag retailer with different systems. |

check ebay and the newagtalk.com classifieds for a used brown box. I saw one sell with a ITC globe as a package for 1400 a week ago at a farm sale. ------------- Gleaner: the properly engineered and built combine.
