Idea is good but that looks like a shin scraper there if you get some mud or grease on it. Tack weld some expanded metal or similar to it and a tab on each side to keep your foot from slipping off unexpectedly. Not trying to pick your project apart, you did a good job, but just adding a little advice based on experience. I bought one of Mike Noonan's steps for my D15 and have been very pleased with it. Guess I was too lazy to build my own.

I have a bunch of Mike's steps on my tractors, they are beautifully done and are very safe as well.  Strongly recommend them.

hmm ,,expanded on the top,,,and some edges to keep me safe,,,good idea  thx

i did think about wrapping an edge around it,,,so that and the expanded metal should make it good for winter snow and spring mud,,,

thx again,,,guess i will take it off the tractor and do some add ons

but it does work great ,,just right for old guy with short legs,,,lol

Put some of that black non skid tape on it like what is used on the engine deck of an L or the step on a 190.

Nice fabrication work on the step! You will wonder how you ever got along with out it!
I like the idea of the black non skid material! I need to do that on my 17 step before it gets slippery!
Regards,
 Chris
