Hello All. I was fortunate enough to purchase an AC 505 wagon with a 150 Killbros hopper from Jordan located in rural Celina Ohio this weekend. Looking forward to painting her all up this winter or next spring. Looking for some help with the correct paint. For the AC running gear I was planning on using "Agco Cream" for the rims and I believe Persian Orange #2 for the running gear? (according to Orshelns farm and home) Not sure if this is correct so any help would be appreciated. Also, for the Killbros hopper, any recommendations on what paint to use? I've read in some forums that people have used 'safety orange' because its close? Glad to do business with you! Killbros.(now Unverferth) still paints some wagons orange so I would contact them about paint. |

Unless you're worried about the correct police I'd use the same paint as the gear. Then you won't have two partial cans to go bad. IMO ------------- Life is tough,but it's tougher when you're stupid. - John Wayne |

| I'm with Eric, I would do both with PO2. I think the change to PO2 was in the very late 50's. That literature looks like the PO2 era |

I assembled many running gears back in the 70's at Dad's dealership. I thought the color of the rims was AC cream, but they could've been white. Been too many years to say with certainty. I'll try and find some old photographs to see what is "correct". In my opinion, white or cream would be okay. I do know the hubs were always orange; it was just the wheels were light colored. Most farmers put Ficklin gravity boxes on the gears as Ficklin Machine Company was located in the same town as our dealership, Onarga, IL.

Hey Brian F(IL), what was your Dad's AC dealership name? I have a Ficklin 435 side dump gravity box on an AC 1010 running gear (late model). This gear has its steering rod located in front of axle, not behind axle like early models. AC 1010 gear has 8 bolt hubs & telescoping hitch. I'll have to look and see if it has a dealership sticker on it. |

Thanks for the replies! Sounds good on just using the same paint for the gear and hopper. I guess my thought is cream colored rims would look better then white and sense I'm already not using the correct paint for the hopper I might just stick with cream. Best place to get cream color is an AGCO dealer? that's where I purchased it last time but any recommendations would help. Would you happen to be selling that literature Fred? Would be nice to have something like that with the wagon. The dealership name was Funk Bros. Implement Co. We were located in Onarga, IL. It may have had a clear dealership sticker on it, but I doubt it. Stickers were usually only put on the new tractors going out. But, you never know... take a look.

You might try doing an internet search for pictures of your Killbros 150 gravity box? Sometimes, a person has a nice original for sale and you can view its colors. I have a 300 & 350 Killbros. Their orange color seems very similar to their AC 701 & 800 running gears. Please share pictures of yours when it's restored. Fred, that is a great AC brochure! |

| Howdy...just painted some wheels...Allis cream and Rust Oleum Almond are the same...used them both interchangably....White would be an option on a lot newer wheels...Check your serial number for age.... |
