Hi guys,

I was out doing some firewood work with my 170. I have had it for almost a year now and it has been great for plowing the driveway and moving firewood around. Well was using it today and she just died. The carb is pretty wet on the outside and am sure needs rebuilt. Aside from that what should I check next coil plug wires plugs ? She cranks over good but acts like there is no spark. I figured I would start with those things just wanted to make sure I was not missing something simple first. best place to get a rebuilt carb? Or should I just get a kit and do it myself? I have a decent shop and am a pretty good shadetree mechanic. Thanks

Talk to steve at B & B custom circuits he is a vendor and good with carbs and ignition systems.   His contact information is on the supplier page.

As to where to start. Pull a plug and check for spark first. That will tell you if it is spark or fuel. It is probably a simple problem. If you have spark check for fuel flow going into the carb if you unhook that line it should flow a steady stream if it doesn't you probably have something plugging up the outlet of the tank rust in the lines is pretty common. Once you know if it is spark or fuel let us know. Also check for loose or broken wires.
