I just traded for a b john deere, I know,I know lol.
But any way it needs a head replaced. I've got a head gasket set for it and it has copper washers that go under the head nuts, there studs and nuts. Anyway I'v been told that I have to have lead washers instead, my qustion is will the copper ones work or do I need the lead ones? Also what are they for?
I'm well ashamed of myself allready and iv tryed another website that wasn't very helpful, also very hard to use lol. If it makes anyone feel better I traded a h farmall to it, and I'm hoping it will help lead to a few allis the same guy has 3 wd's and a b in a barn that going to be sold lol

Well fellas, should we make the traitor change his name to JDBtractorman? Maybe turncoat?

Seems to me the only difference would be the copper corroding. Then again, the lead may o the same. I don't know

The washers may be under the nuts to seal them to the head so the coolant doesn't run out. Lead would seal at a lower torque than copper and react less with moisture, but probably lead will cold flow over time and lead to more leaks than copper. A splash of green paint (JD classic green) should slow copper corrosion.

Wd, you must use lead washers. The lead squashes into the threads on the stud and out to the head for a final seal should head gasket have a mishap in that area.   Congrats on the new color. Any questions don't hesitate to ask

I don't know much about the 2 cylinders, but I'm not going to bash them. They are good tractors (Not as good as Allis) for their time (A whole lot more dependable than the new JDs. I speak from experience)

Congrats on your new machine! Personally, I'd like a styled G (But don't remember which year). Dad grew up on one.
