          | Working on a 918 allis backhoe. The hydro stat and power steering have been going out intermittently. It has gotten worse over time. Found that all the levers work and are moving the valve block for the hydrostat. I have also found that the supply pressure builds pressure for a few seconds which allows it to move and steer. Soon drops and will not move or steer. Is there a pressure relief that I can check? Is there any possibility of a hydraulic schematic out there? |

          | sounds like time to find the manuals for it to get full info on the machine .  Or can talk to shop at Herc-U-Lift in Mpls MN - they sold and serviced the machines .

          | I have pulled the screen. A few pieces of plastic and brass. Nothing too alarming or plugged up. Also only got 2 gallons out of sump. I am assuming I'm checking levels at the wrong spot being there is still some on stick in front of seat after draining all fluids. Anyone may be able to help guide me in the right direction? |

          | Being that experience and help isn't very plentiful for the 918 I suggest you buy a service manual for it, some are available on ebay, it may solve some mysteries for you. My understanding is that the 918 is built on a 180 farm tractor with a number of modifications. You may get some help on tractor info from the A-C 180 but for instance the transmission and fwd reverse is modified to suit being a backhoe. There has been the odd post on here about this re the 918 so yes some people that brush with this forum would have some answers for you...but where are they when you need'em??
