I have had some luck repairing them depending on what is wrong inside them.

Good info I may need that kind of service.
What is going on if the tach needle is jumpy all the
time and sometimes even stuck at 0 rpm during cold weather.

i called that place several times and left messages about a year ago and never heard a thing.  and i have mine apart, i could fix it if i could find the parts.

How hard is it to take apart? Actually what I want to know is how do you get the stainless ring off that hold on the glass? After that it should be straightfoward. Maybe.

Brian, Check the fiber drive gear on the back of the alternator, it may be loosing its teeth.

Talk to Bill Deppe, he has a guy that he recommends that repairs his.
