I would like to look at the screen on the oil pump. It looks like the oil pan would slide ahead, thru the wide front end, then down and out. Or, is the front end in the way, and has to be taken off. Thanks Tim

Never tried taking the pan off while the axle is on. I always removed the axle first, then there are no obstructions.

Tim on my d17 we did remove the oil pan to see what was wrong with the motor before removing the front end. It was a bad idea we fought with it for a very long time a couple of bolts where really hard to get out and it ended up hung up when we dropped it down. I don't know about the d14 but if it looks tricky I would rather remove the front axel it comes out pretty easy actually.
