I know its not Allis exactly but he wanted to drive a tractor and do some work around the house. So I got the little Simplicity out so he could practice mowing. The 72" mower a little much for him to use right now till he gets some experience. He wants to mow everyday now. Kind of a proud moment for this dad. I'm sure many of you have these. I just thought I'd share mine with you guys.  ------------- Can't fix stupid |

I remember the first time I got to mow. It was on a Deere X595. I felt the same way, wanting to mow every day. We still have the mower. It's been great, never needing work done. Unlike Les's mowers (cough cough) Actually it did just conk out one day. A 20 amp fuse got her up and going again though!

| wow!!! AJ...that's putting the spirit in him! bet he was on cloud 9 doing that! yer a great dad! first times I gots to mow our 2 acres was with a 22" push mower! (not self propelled) and I wished I could have traded that job to anyone! is that a lake or river there? |

Me and shameless have something in common. First time was a push mower. I think ours was a 26 inch. First riding mower was a snapper comet right behind pawpaw. We went to cut my great grandmother's grass. Took about 3 hours with 2 comets. I mowed down every flower in the yard. | AJ ; One of my favorite memories of my Dad was him teaching me how to cut grass. That was almost 60 years ago. It was done with walk behind mowers and we each had one, I followed my Dad around and around. The time you spend with him is way more important than getting the grass cut!! Mark |

That's awesome, few of my earliest allis memories was on the yellow lawn tractors, winter time I literally plowed the whole back yard, then in summer time me and my cuzent would haul shale to the drive way. I was also lucky to have my first pickup to drive was a 69 Chevy allis chalmers orange dealer truck. Times kids these days do not get |

First time I got to mow as a kid was on a 1975 IH Cub Cadet 128. I had a couple of mishaps too. That thing didn't have a very tight turning radius and I ran it into a corn crib and later a tree but that thing was tough and it didn't hurt it. The Deere X595 is the Mercedes Benz of lawn mowers. I want one of those things bad but apparently nobody who has one ever sells it. |

AJ, that's the way to get him started off. Spend as much time with him as you can, they grow up way too fast. Nice looking place there.

Believe it or not I do own a Gravely Tractor. Allis Chalmers did not have a unit when I bought it. I let my son use it on his new home. I do remember the smile on my Grandson's face when he drove by me on the Tractor. For that reason I let the tractor stay in my son's home for his use. He enjoyed using it so much to move his boat and to just motor around the neighborhood. My son and Grandson use it now on their new lawn. Good Luck! Bill Long

They got the corn off up at my dads............... guess who has 30 acres of corn stubble to play in! Well, ME, eventually. Time does fly Leon. Seems he has grown so much so fast. BTW: I have another on way, due in late February. I learned early in life to live everyday as if it were your last. You just never know when you clock will stop. I just had a close call Sunday night in route to Des Moines hitting a deer just south of Moberly. Last night I wanted to just shine up the moldboard. Both kids came piling over and took a turn. Courtney could take it or leave it after a couple rounds, but Carter is hooked. I may as well take the cultivator and disk up too so he can keep busy while I run the bigger tractors. I added those lights and boxes. The left armrest contains a toolbox and the right contains a switch panel to control all three sets of lights and the electric lift. Also mounted a switch on the hydro lever for the electric lift. It is a sweet setup. Unfortunately after last night it may not be my sweet setup anymore, as I had to pry the boy off it when it was time to go...... ------------- The mechanic always wins.
