Should a magneto spark turning by hand on bench? or does it need to turn faster?

Mine will spark when turning it by hand. They came out on a lot of hand crank engines, so they should spark even when just turned slowly. If the impulse is working.

That's what figured. This is my first mag rebuild. I replaced coil, condenser, points and insulated wire from points to condenser. I don't get any spark on coil wire against mag housing when turned by hand. I'll take apart again and check everything again.

It should turn hard then snap and make the spark. If not the impulse isn't working.

Remember, only one plug will fire on each turn.  Not all will fire.
