The heat pad and packing strips shown in the parts book are NLA.

Maybe on the oval muffler exhaust , a heat pad is not needed?  However the old rust pitting under the hood kinda indicates it had something there.

The pads/packing strips in the front,  has anyone come up with a good substitute for the original ones?

Thanks, Dave

I am sure i have the padding strips figured  out and ordered.

Still need help with whether or not the series II had any type of heat pad/shield on the inside of the hood.

Zeigler has a generic one but, don't want to go the 90 bucks if it is not needed.

Have four D15's, Series I and II, none have any type of heat shield.

The packing strip, is easily replaced.  Use an old boy scout belt, from goodwill, or a thrift store.  Also works good under the gas tank strips...

My seriesII has some shielding around oval hole. Looks like a fiber asbestos pad bonded to it. HTH Tracy

I have a serries 1 and a serries 2 that I built one tractor out of one was industrial and the other was an ag neither one had any heat shield.   I have used the tractor with a 160 gas motor with oval serries 2 exaust for a year without any heat issues.
