B 3 Point Hitch Installation

Just bought a 3 point hitch for my B.

I have most of it together now but was curious if anyone has any advice or tips in mounting the unit to the tractor. The Bolt holes don't match up with the seat frame and there seems to be a gap between the Rockshaft uprights and the seat frame or between the uprights and the drawbar.

Any help apprciated

If your asking for opinions; throw the 3pt in the scrap pile and get some of the proper factory equipment to go with your B. I can never understand how the 3pt became the standard hitch. Maybe it was the old adage "beware of stupid people in large numbers". It is the most unreasonable thing to get hitched and is most likely to leave you with a backache and a couple of skinned fingers before you get hitched. Even the Snap coupler hitch for a B would be better than 3pt. If you insist on keeping the 3pt, buy all the heavy metal you can get cheap, because you'll need it for front weight. The 3pt moves the equipment back so far it throws the balance of the tractor off by a large bit.

That's why I'm looking to go with a hydraulic top link and one hydraulic side link on the three point conversion of my WD.

The aftermarket hitches that do not have sliding arms are hard to use. The newer factory stuff with the slides on the arms work very well. Slower than a snap coupler, but anyone who has spent much time shoving the hitch back under a WD or D17 can tell why the 3 pt hitch won that battle.

I love my 3-point I mounted on my C. Works great. I had the same problem. This is what I did. Loosen the drawbar bolt so the drawbar will wiggle up and down some. Leave it loose. Fit bolts into all the positions and leave everything loose. Tighten those on the final drive frame first, then tighten the ones on the drawbar. Finally, tighten the ones on the drawbar from the 3-point bracket. It will pull the drawbar up and should make it flush with the bracket. Lastly, tighten the drawbar nut again. Good luck. It was a good purchase for me.

I love the 3-point on my B. I did put the engine weights on and you have to keep the weight on the back in mind. I moved the large logs one at a time without an issue.

I had to flip my draw bar over to install the hitch. And like was mentioned, leave everything loose until it is completely mounted then tighten things up.

Remember that the load is further back than if the tractor was designed with a 3-point so you need to be very situationally aware. I never strapped the big logs on in case the front lifted, the log would roll off before I got into too much trouble. You will never get to the clutch fast enough to stop it in time. On the other hand your implement will act like a wheely bar.

Thanks guys for the help. Just about got it installed hit a roadblock with the OEM pan seat that is on mine which is in the way of where the left side bracket is suppossed to go.
