Does anyone know the part number for a speedi sleeve and the corresponding lip seal for a B? The engine is a 1941, so would it have the spiral in the crankshaft? Should I even need a speedi sleeve since it's a later model? I've heard the early Bs need one, but not sure about this one.
Thanks!

Thanks so much!!

Now, the next question...how do you properly center the timing cover over the crankshaft?

I have always installed the seal in the cover first. I make a cone out of shim stock to keep from tearing the new seal. after greasing it up well I put the cover on carefully and start the bolts. I eye ball it to center and snug up the bolts. I put several large washers and tighten the front mounting studs and tighten all the rest of the bolts. I then mount the governor and water pump along with the fan and generator.  After the gasket sealer has had a chance to set up I then mount the pivot plate and radiator mount.
The seal is easy to tear and I have done so before using shim stock to cover the step on the crankshaft.

Well I removed the timing cover and found this. Is this the spiral you guys talk about? Looks like I'll need a Speedi-Sleeve after all. Is there a trick to installing those?
Thanks!

I cut a pipe nipple to drive it back over the crankshaft end.

Ok thanks! I'll call Napa and see if they can order a Speedi-Sleeve and rubber lip seal.
