Drained (what I believe to be) the transmission fluid from here: Received about a gallon or more of chocolate milk from this 1.5-inch plug. (I didn't drink it.) I was expecting something much darker. I intend to replace with universal transmission / hydraulic fluid that I can find in farm supply stores. It should go into the loose-fitting cap just forward of the seat -- the one with the dip stick. Right? ------------- D17 Series III |

| The hex head, about 1 inch across, just inboard from clutch pedal, on top of transmission housing, right? That is the power director housing. The transmission dipstick is the breather farther to the right. The transmission uses gear oil. |

That plug is for the power direct clutch pack yes the hex head dipstick and it uses hydraulic oil. The drain for the transmission is feather back under the rear axel. Transmission is the dipstick beside the shifter and I use gear oil some people use hydraulic oil as there was an update about it. But mine has had gear oil since it was new without issues so I keep using it. |

| While you are at it there is a drain plug just ahead of the one you pulled in the center of the oil pan. That is the hydraulic pump tank. There is a dipstick for it on the right side of the torque tube beside the belt pullie or belt pullie cover. It probably would hurt to drain that hydraulic oil and replace it as well. |
