I was finishing up some fungicide tonight with a 3 point mounted mist blower and had a flat tire on an old AC 180 gasser. It's time for new rears on her but they need to be "reasonable". I found Samson Agri-Trac bias on Nebraska Tire's website for $395 each which doesn't seem bad for this odd ball size. I can't find any used here yet, and will need the tractor in 4-5 days for more spraying. Are Samson tires any good? Is Nebraska Tire good to deal with? I'm 40 miles east of St. Louis and would need to have the tires shipped. The tractor runs a sprayer, bush hog, and pulls wagons for a total of 100-200 hrs. a year so radials are out. Anyone know of a fair set of used 18.4 X 28 tires?

I bought a set of 18.4x26 Sampsons for the back of a RWA combine and they don't wear the greatest on the highway, but then again they aren't firestones and they are on the back of a pretty heavy combine that seen a lot of highway miles. I would say they are comparable to BKT. I don't think you will have any trouble with them other than maybe road wear. They carry the weight of the combine and their share of 320 bushels sometimes and no problems.

In April I went to Nebr Tire for a set of 18.4x28", they were out of the Samson but had 4 pair of Titan 8 ply in stock. The store closest to me did not have them, but by the next day they had a set moved to there for me to pickup. They stayed around until after noon on a Saturday so I could get the tires. Seemed pretty good people.

I've ruined 2 rear tires over the winter on 2 tractors. I've 2 used tires available. They'e in WC Iowa about 5-10 minutes off of I-80.

1. On the AC180 I decided to replace both, now I've a 18.4x28 Harvest King with some weather checking and 75% tread tire & tube setting in a shed. I'd sell it for $200. but shipping is on the buyer. Harvest King is what Tractor Supply used to sell in this area.

2. 16.9x28" Goodyear Dyna Torque, 40-50% tread, weather checked, but better than none. $100., and again shipping is on the buyer.

Nebraska Tire is part of Farmers Cooperative. They will have anything from a lower grade tire to the higher end usually in stock or able to get it within a day or two. Prices are usually quoted cash and carry with mounting extra. Tires are like everything...you get what you pay for. If you don't use the tractor every day a lower grade tire will more than likely do just fine. Most tires on an occasional use tractor rot out before they wear out anyway.

I have done the cheap tire thing you get what you pay for. I now have a set of tires on my 6080 that I hate.

We put quite a few Sampson tires on chore tractors. Cant remember any complaints. That is a fair price.
