I am ashamed to even start this thread...I figured after I pulled that 8N out of the sticks, got it running, etc. I'd never have this question again, but here goes... My G won't start. I have a bright blue spark at all plugs, and fresh clean gas in the tank. I haven't ran the tractor since October, but I knew I wouldn't be running it for a while when I parked it, so I shut off the gas and ran the engine until all of the gas was burned out of the line. I sprayed some starting fluid into the intake manifold through the vacuum port, and I got about 2 pops out of it, and that was it. The tractor ran great before I parked it. I'm puzzled. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks

You know, when we got them right off the flat cars brand new we had trouble starting them. They had some kind of preservative in the fuel lines and even though we drained it totally out - we thought - we could still not get them started. You have spark, getting gas, and in time. If that is so it should start. Be certain the carburetor is clean with no obstructions. They are so small a dot can cause problems. Sometimes we towed them. Perhaps someone else can chime in with better information. Let us know how it goes. Good Luck! Bill Long
ps: I know Bob Bollinger's ran well. That soil was tough and it took a good tractor in excellent tune to do the job.

This was a real strong running tractor, so I would think the carb would be good. I may pull it off and check though. I did have my sister pull me around on the G with it in 3rd gear, but it just spun the motor and never did fire once. Actually it did backfire once when we stopped. Shot a spark out the exhaust.

Tap on the carb near where the fuel line attaches, poss needle stuck

Did you put any fuel additive in the fuel when you stored it, if not there is your problem unless you use air plane fuel. this fuel we buy has to have additive in it if you don't use it right away.

Make sure a nice little mouse has not built his nest in the air intake. Also pull drain on carb. bowl and make sure you have gas in the bowl.

Don't waste time pulling the carb off if you don't know if there is gas getting to it. Remove the drain plug from the bowl of the carb and TURN the GAS ON. See what happens.

Well I have some good news...I got it to run. The problem was of my own error. I took the plug wires off a few months ago to use on my B, as I needed to use the tractor, but the old wires were corroded. When I put them back on the G, I put them on not remembering the engine is installed backwards! Also the firing order is 1-3-4-2, instead of 1-2-4-3, like Allis engines. I switched the wires around, pulled the starter rod, and after two revolutions it fired right up!!
I feel so stupid for not remembering that... I guess that's what happens when you're in a hurry to get your corn cultivated before the storm gets here! Lol
