Broke my plow point last Saturday on the 42 B. Would like to find anything that would make the plow usable again. Point number I have on it now was 309234 but that was a replacement as it's marked Dutz Allis on it. So the part number may have been different. But what ever works is fine with me. I've had this tractor for going on 20 years and never once replace it. So if anyone knows where I can get one that would be great. If you know where two may be purchased I have another plow needing one. At this point welding is out as I don't have the old point to put it back on. It's buried in the field at this point. Back in the olden days, when I was a whippersnapper, we would take the share to the local blacksmith and he would rebuild it. Back then every farming community had a blacksmith. Today, not to much. |

309234 was a chilled iron narrow cut stony ground plow share used on two versions of 24 and also 124 right hand bottoms. On the 24 used for 12 and 14" bottoms, only 14" on the 124. There were 8 different shares offered for the 24 bottom. Welding the iron share will be very difficult, but it might be found with a metal detector. And might be a future plowing obstacle to cause more damage so finding the broken of piece might be worth the bother searching with the metal detector. Shares that fit the 24 bottom 14" are 323654 full cut deep suck soft center steel, 308864 solid steel narrow cut stony, 308880 solid steel narrow cut deep suck, 308879 solid steel narrow cut common suck, your 309234 chilled iron narrow cut stony, 309235 chilled iron narrow cut deep suck, 308867 chilled iron no other description. Thats for the bolted draw rod bracket frog. For the 24 14" with welded draw rod bracket the shares are 323654, 308861 soft center steel share, 309270 solid steel narroc cut stony, 308864 solid steel share, 308879, 308880, 309235, 309234, and 308867. For 14" 124 bottom. 308861, 323654, 308864, 308879, 308880, 309270, 308867, 30925. and 309234. I'd go for a steel share to handle rock impacts better than the chilled iron. If vendors on this site can't fill your need, you may be able to take another share to a farm store or two with shares and find one (probably bigger) with about the same angle and adapt the new share by grinding and then drilling new bolt holes in the frog. You won't be able to drill new plow bolt holes in the share because of the shape of the holes. The draw rod won't be a feature on any other brand or newer share. Mikez, and others the plow, after looking the two I have 24 single bottoms. I have the left hand one as well but have never mounted it on. I don't have the hydraulic diverter on either B I have so it is useless at this point. If I'm having trouble now finding a point for the much more common one I would think the left hand plow would be impossible. ------------- Allis B's 42 & 48 Plows, Mowers, Cultivators for both |
