I bought this non-running 8550 today on Purplewave in Jamestown Kansas. I have been running a new to us 8550 the last week on a finisher and have liked it real well, so it's a keeper now. I thought it wouldn't hurt to have a parts tractor sitting here for the future. The guy said the engine was needing the main bearings replaced when they parked it. So who knows what shape its in. They also sold a 7060. Did anyone on here buy it? I knew I couldn't fit both on one trailer!

I don't have plans to part it out unless my good one needs something I can't get elsewhere. A friend of mine worked for a local Fiat-Allis construction dealer and knows that engine in the 8550. I may have him overhaul it if everything else checks out okay. That, and the cost of 8 tires for it, makes it hard to pencil out! |
